Sustainable Tourism Development: Cultural Heritage, Environment, Society

Το Διεθνές Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα «Sustainable Tourism Development: Cultural Heritage, Environment, Society» εγκαινιάζει το 3ο χρόνο λειτουργίας του και προσκαλεί τους ενδιαφερόμενους να υποβάλουν την υποψηφιότητά τους έως τις 3 Ιουλίου, 11 Σεπτεμβρίου, 25 Σεπτεμβρίου, για το ακαδημαϊκό έτος 2020– 2021.

Το πρόγραμμα αποτελεί τη νέα καινοτομική ακαδημαϊκή συνεργασία τριών Πανεπιστημίων, του Χαροκόπειου (Τμήματα «Οικιακής Οικονομίας & Οικολογίας», «Γεωγραφίας» και «Πληροφορικής και Τηλεματικής») του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου (Τμήμα «Διοίκησης Επιχειρήσεων») και του Πανεπιστημίου Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne (IREST – Institute de Researche et d’ Études Supérieures du Tourisme).

Το πρόγραμμα, υιοθετώντας τις πλέον καινοτόμες εκπαιδευτικές πρακτικές, θέτει στο επίκεντρο την παροχή ειδικευμένης κατάρτισης υψηλού επιπέδου, για σύγχρονα επαγγέλματα που σχετίζονται με τη Βιώσιμη Τουριστική Ανάπτυξη, την Προβολή και τη Διαχείριση της Πολιτισμικής Κληρονομιάς, εστιάζοντας σε θέματα που σχετίζονται με:

• την Βιώσιμη Τουριστική Ανάπτυξη
• τη διασύνδεση Πολιτισμού και Τουρισμού
• το Μάνατζμεντ και το Μάρκετινγκ της Πολιτισμικής Κληρονομιάς
• την Ανάπτυξη και Διαχείριση των Τουριστικών Προορισμών
• την Οικονομία του Τουρισμού, και
• την Προστασία του Περιβάλλοντος σε Τουριστικές Περιοχές

Οι καθηγητές του προγράμματος προέρχονται και από τα τρία Πανεπιστήμια. Επιπλέον, όλα τα μαθήματα διεξάγονται στα αγγλικά και πραγματοποιούνται στο Χαροκόπειο Πανεπιστήμιο και είναι πλήρους φοίτησης με διάρκεια 12 μηνών. Αποτελείται από δύο εντατικά εξάμηνα κατά τη διάρκεια των οποίων λαμβάνουν χώρα θεωρητικά και σεμιναριακά μαθήματα καθώς και διαλέξεις, που καλύπτουν το ευρύ φάσμα του Μάνατζμεντ του Τουρισμού και της Πολιτισμικής Κληρονομιάς. Το πρόγραμμα ολοκληρώνεται μέσω πρακτικής άσκησης και εκπόνησης διπλωματικής εργασίας.

The Departments of “Home Economics and Ecology”, “Geography” and “Informatics and Telematics” of Harokopio University, the “Department of Business Administration” of the University of the Aegean and the «Institute de Researche et d’ Etudes Supérieures du Tourisme» of Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne (IREST) University, according to the 6th Special Interdepartmental Committee of 27.04.2020, to the provisions of the article 34 of the Law 4485/2017, has decided and they invite the interested parties from 04.05.2020 up to 03.07.2020 to apply for a total of sixty (60) postgraduate students in the International Master Program (MSc) entitled “Sustainable Tourism Development: Heritage, Environment, Society“. 

The program focuses on the provision of high-level qualifications for professions related to Sustainable Tourism Development and Interpretation and Management of Cultural Heritage. The subject of the Master’s program is the provision of specialized studies in the scientific field of Sustainable Tourism Development through the cultural heritage. In particular, it aims at the specialized training of postgraduate students in subjects related to: 

✓ Sustainable Development of Tourism
✓ Interrelations of Culture and Tourism Sectors
✓ Cultural Tourism
✓ Management and Marketing of Cultural Heritage
✓ Development and Management of Tourist Destinations
✓ The Economics of Tourism
✓ Environmental Protection of Tourist Areas
✓ Innovative approaches in Culture and Tourism 

Structure:
The Master’s program is a full-time course of 12 months. It consists of two intensive semesters during which theoretical and seminar courses and lectures covering the wide range of Tourism Management and Cultural Heritage are taking place. The program is completed with internship and diploma thesis. The program’s professors come from all three Universities. All courses are taught in English and are held at Harokopio University. 

Indicative Curriculum: 

Internship:
Internship is compulsory and it is composed by experts seminars on Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism or group assignments regarding issues related to the subjects taught at the Programme or by a combination of the two plus study visits. 

Target Groups of applicants:
In this Master’s program may apply graduates from all Greek Universities’ departments, graduates from foreign Universities or equivalent recognized foreign institutions, as well as graduates of the Greek Technical Institutions. 

Additionally, students of the Greek Universities are admitted under the condition that they have fulfilled their obligations and will have submitted a certificate either after the deadline for submitting the supporting documents, or at least until the date of their registration. 

Maximum number of admissions: 60 

Applicants Selection Process:
The applicants’ selection process takes place through:

1. Application Folder
2. Personal interview and 
3. Knowledge level of the English language. 

Candidates are pre-selected on the basis of the application folder based on criteria such as the degree grade, the level of English language knowledge, the possession of other postgraduate degrees, the professional and research experience, the publications in scientific journals and in conferences. Any interested person will have to submit the application and the file with its supporting documents to the Secretariat of the Master’s Program, within the time limits laid down in the call. 

Candidates who will be pre-selected will be interviewed. Upon completion of the interview process, the final candidates to be admitted to the Master’s Program will be selected. 

Supporting Documents:
Applicants should submit the following supporting documents to the Master’s Program Secretariat. 

✓ Application form completed and signed by the candidate (available from the Master’s Program Secretariat and the corresponding website of the Department).
✓ Photocopy of the two sides of the identity card (or passport)
✓ Detailed curriculum vitae.
✓ A copy of their degree. If the degree is from a foreign university it should be followed by the relevant recognition titles.
✓ Certificate of studies with analytical grades of all undergraduate and graduate courses. Other university or Technical Institutions degrees. (If any). Postgraduate degrees (if any).
✓ Valid copies of foreign language certificates.
✓ Copies of scientific publications or other scientific work (if any).
✓ Employment experience certificates (if applicable).
✓ Reference letters (with the name, title, position, address, and phone of the signing person). One of the two reference letters may come from an academic professor.
✓ Foreign students, whose degrees are legally validated by the relevant authorities of the Greek state, are also admitted. 

Implementation of the program:
The master’s program will begin in the winter semester of the academic year 2020 – 2021 and will take place at Harokopio University. The attendance will be two to three afternoons a week (Monday to Friday). 

Cost of Study:
The Master’s Program is self-financed and the total cost for each participant amounts to 4.500,00 €, which is paid in four (4) equal installments of 1.125,00 € each at the beginning and the end of each semester. 

Submission of Application folder:
The application for the Master’s Program together with the application folder will be submitted by the interested parties in the Protocol Department, at the main building of Harokopio University, during working days, from 04.05.2020 until 03.07.2020, 11.09.2020, 20.10.2020 09.00- 14.00 hours.
