The joint master’s programme in Turbomachinery Aeromechanical University Training (THRUST) is a cooperation between KTH, Duke University, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Université de Liège. The programme offers education of high international standard as well as cultural experience from at least two different countries and a double degree from two universities.

Turbomachinery Aeromechanical University Training at KTH
Energy and propulsion are much needed systems in the world for most modern human activities and social development for a sustainable society. Turbomachines produce more than 90% of all electricity in the world, drive the majority of aircrafts and are used extensively as compressors, pumps, etc. in many modern applications (for exampel. refrigerators and ventilators).
Aeromechanics is one of the main limitations for more efficient, lighter, cheaper and reliable turbomachines, be it jet engines, steam turbines, gas turbines, wind turbines or hydro turbines, as well as various kind of compressors. The programme aims to educate students with high skills to face the challenges within aeromechanics. The programme is led by a coordinator team at KTH. The coordinator team reports back to a steering committee composed of representatives from all parties involved in the programme, both from academia as well as industry.
The programme is highly integrated, first of all regarding student and teacher mobility for certain common lectures, but also related to the extended use of remote teaching by the specialist teachers at all four universities, in conjunction with “face-to-face” and “virtual” interactive workshops and project courses.
The programme offers a unique, modern and highly interactive learning material which enhances the student learning process. This, together with the “remote learning” aspects, will also allow for a substantial potential for already active industrial persons to participate in the programme as part of the life-long learning inside their respective companies. Given the nature of the subject of aeromechanics, multidisciplinary skills are fostered.
The programme offers three tracks related to three mobility options. Students begin their first year at KTH and study the second year at one of the three programme tracks connected to three different universities:
Université de Liège, Belgium (ULg)
Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (AUTH)
Duke University, USA
The tracks at ULg and AUTH result in a joint degree, and the track at Duke results in a double degree from KTH and Duke. Participation cost vary between tracks. The track KTH/AUTH will not open admission for intake to autumn 2020.

How to apply
The next application period for KTH master’s programmes is between 16 October 2019 and 15 January 2020. Applications are made through University Admissions, an online application portal for all Swedish universities. The number of places for each programme is limited and admission is highly competitive.
Application process for KTH master’s programmes
The academic year at KTH is divided into two semesters of 20 weeks, with the autumn semester beginning at the end of August and the spring semester beginning in January. All master’s programmes start in the autumn semester. The application deadlines below are strict and in Central European Time (CET).
1. Choose your programmes
Find one or more programmes and verify that you meet the general and programme specific admission requirements for the programmes. These can be found under ‘Entry requirements’ on each programme page.
2. Submit your online application by 15 January
Create an account, select programmes and submit your application via University Admissions. Follow the “Apply now” link on the programme page or find all programmes published on University Admissions. You can apply to four programmes and these should be ranked in your order of priority.

3. Submit your required documents by 3 February
Your application will be considered incomplete if you do not submit all the required documentation. The general and programme specific documents are listed under ‘Entry requirements’ on each programme page. Please note:
- Most applicants can upload all documents on universityadmissions.se.
- The documentation requirements and academic qualifications may differ between countries.
- No documents should be sent to KTH unless you are instructed to do so.
- The authenticity of your documents may be verified with the issuing institution. Applications made with fraudulent documents will be rejected and legal action may be taken.
- Incomplete applications will not be processed.

4. Pay the application fee or document your citizenship by 3 February
For non-EU/EEA citizens, an application fee (SEK 900) is required. EU/EEA and Swiss citizens are not required to pay the application fee, but should prove their citizenship status, for instance with a passport copy.
5. Check the selection results on 3 April
The notification of selection results will be published on University Admissions on 3 April. You do not need to reply to your offer. If you are admitted, KTH will provide further information about how to prepare for your studies.
