Το Τμήμα Πληροφορικής και Τηλεπικοινωνιών του Πανεπιστημίου Πελοποννήσου σε συνεργασία με το Εθνικό Αστεροσκοπείο Αθηνών παρουσιάζει το πρώτο πρόγραμμα μεταπτυχιακών σπουδών στην Ελλάδα στον τομέα του διαστήματος και συγκεκριμένα στη Διαστημική Επιστήμη Τεχνολογίες και Εφαρμογές.

Σκοπός του Προγράμματος Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών στη Διαστημική Επιστήμη, Τεχνολογίες και Εφαρμογές είναι να εκπαιδεύσει φοιτητές και να δημιουργήσει επιστήμονες υψηλών προδιαγραφών στο αντικείμενο αυτό. Οι εφαρμογές του διαστήματος αναπτύσσονται και εξελίσσονται συνεχώς και εκτιμάται ότι τα επόμενα χρόνια θα παίξουν σημαντικό ρόλο στην παγκόσμια οικονομία. Στόχος του Προγράμματος Διαστημική Επιστήμη Τεχνολογίες και Εφαρμογές είναι να προσφέρει στους φοιτητές εξειδικευμένη γνώση τόσο θεωρητική όσο και μέσα από εφαρμογές στην πράξη. Το Πρόγραμμα είναι οργανωμένο ώστε να προωθεί τη γνώση και την έρευνα σε τρέχοντα τεχνολογικά θέματα εστιάζοντας στην επίλυση των προβλημάτων που προκύπτουν από αυτά.

The Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of the Peloponnese and the National Observatory of Athens intend to operate, for the academic year 2018-2019, a joint Postgraduate Program (MSc) in Space Science Technologies and Applications. 

The program specializes in the scientific field of Space, and aims to provide its students with knowledge and skills regarding space technologies and applications, enabling them to solve contemporary problems in Space Science. 

The opening of the 3rd cycle is planned in October 2018. 

The duration of the postgraduate diploma is set at four (4) semesters. 

The language of lectures is English. 

The courses will take place in Athens at the facilities of National Observatory of Athens. 

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION 

For the academic year 2018-2019, up to forty (40) students will be accepted to the specific MSc in Space Science Technologies and Applications. 

The Program accepts applications from graduates of University Departments in STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) or other relevant specializations. Candidates who have not yet completed their studies, but are expected to have graduated by October 2018, can also apply. All relevant certificates will need to be submitted at the time of registration. 

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTEDTIMELY ALONG WITH THE APPLICATION: 

For the selection of postgraduate students, the following documents must be submitted: 

  1. Application form (accessed online the URL is provided below)
  2. Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English
  3. Copies of all diplomas/ university degrees received. 
  4. Transcripts of grades in Greek or English
  5. Copy of the candidate’s identity card
  6. Candidate’s photograph
  7. Two recommendation letters (Candidates may also provide the contact details of the persons who are willing to provide them a recommendation letter)
  8. Proof of knowledge of the English language. (Certificate of Proficiency in English from University of Michigan/Cambridge, TOEFL, IELTS or other equivalent)
  9. Scientific publications (if any)
  10. Proof of professional experience (if any)
  11. Finally, candidates may submit any other information which, in their view, might further support their application, so that the Evaluation Committee can more completely assess their candidateship.

All diplomas, certificates and other documents must be submitted in electronic form (scanned). 

At the final selection stage, the students will be ranked by considering the above listed qualifications, according to the provisions of the Greek legislation, and the top-ranked candidates will be interviewed. The interview will focus in assessing the overall qualifications and scientific adequacy of the candidates in relation to the Program curriculum. The evaluation of the applications will be made by a Postgraduate Student Selection Committee, which will be appointed by the MSc Program Steering Committee.

INFORMATION 

Accepted candidates are required to pay tuition fees amounting to €3,000 for the entire duration of the Program. Tuition fees are paid in three (3) installments, €1,000 each, at the beginning of each of the first three semesters of study. The deadline for the payment of tuition fees is decided by the MSc Program Steering Committee.
